It’s produced by Century, who are famous for their products being of good quality, long lasting and above all realistic. This punching dummy is no exception to Century’s reputation.

How Century Bob XL is different than Punching Bags

A traditional punching bag is like a giant, cylindrical pillow. This type of bag is also referred to as the hanging heavy bag and there are many different versions on the market. The traditional heavy bag is hung from ceiling hooks or ropes and requires a floor space of about 14 feet by 10 feet. These bags swing around while the person punches them to provide resistance and force feedback to the user. A traditional punching bag provides good quality, however, it does not offer an accurate representation of your target area.

Punching dummies are an excellent alternative to traditional punching bags. They provide more realistic training since they can be set up in countless positions and the user must adapt his/her technique accordingly. Punching dummies are generally favored for this increased realism and versatility, but there is still a large market place for traditional punching bags. You can read about the best heavy bags here.

Unlike bags, which have seams that can rip after a while, Century Bob XL is made of one single piece of rubber. This increases it’s resistance to rips and tears, so you do not have to worry about your product breaking down in the near future.

Century Bob XL also has a tough outer layer of rubber designed for training purposes. This allows users to practice their strikes without worrying about damaging the internal foams inside the dummy.

The quality is not the only thing that’s good about this punching dummy; it also looks realistic. It has a head, shoulder, arms and torso which makes it resemble a human body even more than traditional punching bags.

This gives you an opportunity to practice your techniques on something that is closer to a real person than a heavy bag ever could be.

One comment on “Century Bob XL (With Base Unit) Review”

  1. It’s also worth noting that this is the larger version of the regular Century Bob. We like it better because it can hold more weight, which allows you to really work up a sweat if needed. The only downside is that it does take up a bit more space in your room or outside area, so you need to have the room for it.
